Wantagh Scholars Earn Commendation in National Merit Program
Three Wantagh High School seniors were named Commended Scholars in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship program. Emma Burns, Damien Crowley and Samantha Magri were recognized for their academic achievement.
Commended Scholars have scores among the top 2 to 4% of all students who took the PSAT/NMSQT during the fall of their junior year, and receive Letters of Commendation for this achievement. Although they will not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, some may be candidates for special scholarships offered by corporate sponsors.
Emma, Damien and Samantha have taken numerous Advanced Placement and college-level courses during their four years at Wantagh High School. Additionally, they are very active in student life. Emma is vice president of the Class of 2025, treasurer of the Chemistry Club and a member of the varsity tennis team. Damien is president of the Wantagh Animal Rights and Recycling Club, president of Science Olympiad and vice president of FBLA. Samantha is part of the Creative Writing Club and International Outreach. All three students will graduate in June with an Advanced Placement Capstone diploma.
